ORBIT is a platform for talented Indonesian designers to grow and develop to their full potential through a continuous capacity-building program, allowing them to contribute to the nation through their profession. The ORBIT program is designed for emerging designers who are just starting to make their mark, with the aim of nurturing the next generation of Indonesian designers. These designers are expected to excel not only in design skills but also in business and overall impact.

Initiated by the Deputy of Research, Development, and Education of Bekraf Indonesia, ORBIT is projected to enhance the ecosystem that fosters the growth of quality and integrity among Indonesian designers. The ORBIT process begins with a selection of creative individuals from fields such as Architecture, Interior Design, Visual Communication Design, Fashion Design, Lighting Design, Product Design, Textile Design, Craft, and Landscape Design. Participants are required to submit proposals that meet criteria such as originality, contemporary relevance, and problem-solving aspects.

The 20 ORBIT 2017 designers were chosen through a rigorous process that included evaluations of integrity, design quality, submitted work, and portfolio reviews, as well as interviews and presentations. The ORBIT 2017 designers are:
